The weekend’s quite an interesting one especially for early adapters and Apple loyalists with the US release of the iPad - a handheld tablet device that allows users to watch movies, surf the Web, read e-books and run applications such as games and other tools.
The iPad is Apple’s biggest release since it launched the iPhone back in 2007. While the queues at the Apple stores aren’t as long as those in the iPhone launch, many still spent time in line to get their hands on the new gadget.
The iPad’s designed to address the most common gadget and computing activities and make them accessible in a more portable and compact form.
iPads are currently priced at $499 to $699 based on the built-in storage (16GB to 64GB). Apple will also be offering models with 3G connectivity later this month and would range from $629 to $829 depending on the specifications.
We have to hand it to Steve Jobs. He is a marketing genius. He basically supersized an iPod Touch and sold it as a whole new device and people are buying it.
