Nintendo won over many gamers with the Wii's motion controls. Never mind if the PS3 had better computing and graphics hardware. But will a new motion controller finally help trump Sony the Wii?

No one really expected Nintendo to come out ahead in the current generation consoles wars. The PS3 had better hardware all-around and, during its launch, it was the cheapest Blu-Ray player available too.

Now, Sony’s set to unleash its latest set of developments for the console – 3D capabilities and a new motion controller. Sony made the announcements at the start of the Tokyo Game Show,

The Japanese company showcased a new motion-controller wand dubbed the Move. The controller works in the same way as the Wii-mote.

Sony won’t be missing out on the 3D boom as well, announcing that the console will also have 3D capabilities, not only for gaming but for movie and video playback as well. The software update download will be made available September 21.

Check out the Move below:

For those of you who don’t know Blippy, it’s a social network that basically showcases your credit card purchases.

It’s pretty crazy idea, really but that hasn’t stopped people from actually posting their credit card information online for other people to see their purchases.

While Blippy claims that their service is secure, it has recently been reported that some credit card numbers have been leaked by the service through Google.

Five Blippy users found their credit card numbers plastered in Google search results. The simple use of the search terms “site:blippy.com +outstanding” revealed numbers.

Google claims that such issues is responsibility of the webmaster. Blippy asked Google to reindex its site and the issue is now supposedly resolved.

Key reason why you should minimize your identity footprint online.

Apple's attention to its gadgets line has left its computer business stagnant.

For the longest time, Apple’s advertising campaign for the Mac has revolved around taking potshots at the PC. But with the new attention to mobile gadgets such as the iPod, the iPhone, and the iPad, Apple’s product line (and business) seems to have shifted away from computing in the traditional sense.

With the recent emphasis on the iPhone and the iPad, Apple’s Mac computers seem to have stagnated as a product line.
CNET points out that one such victim of Apple’s aggressive product shift is the MacBook.

Sure there are hardware updates here and there but that’s just expected. But on the level of real innovation, the line doesn’t seem to offer anything revolutionary.

Other notebook manufacturers now offer powerful machines at the same price range as the iPad. Sure, some MacBooks retail at less than $1000 but the hardware specs don’t come close. Aside from the Apple logo, there seems to be no other premium in the nitty-gritty computing sense. And has Apple even solved the CPU whine that plagued many a MacBook?

The Air, for example, was positioned as an ultraportable machine but aside from the form factor and the computing power, who’d be interested in it when you’ve got a more portable iPad that you can lug around?

I think that the Mac ad campaigns should stop taking potshots at the PC. As far as the game is concerned, the Mac has gotten quite uncool compared to its portable cousins.

Usability’s all the rage these days and the less keystrokes or mouse clicks you need to do is greatly appreciated. Probably why I get a bit disturbed when I switch to Firefox and find myself not able to search using the address bar.

Google Chrome experiments with more of the same with a developer version of Google Chrome where the http:// prefix in the address bar is automatically hidden.

It does appear novel especially since browsers often deal with hypertext transfer protocol anyway. FTPs are often handled by other clients. However, the question is how would users react with this change.

It was reported as a bug. But that’s with someone who cares about seeing the protocol prefix.

We could only wonder how the rest of the world react. I bet more than half of Internet users don’t even know what http means anyway.

The much-awaited 3G-enabled Apple iPad ships by May 7.

So a lot of early adopters were pretty pissed off when they experienced some Wi-Fi connectivity issues with the non-3G Apple iPads. Many were holding out on the release of the 3G-enabled versions that’s supposed to come out by the month’s end.

Apple updated details in its store saying that the 3G-enabled iPads “Ships: By May 7th.” Now the preposition “by” means that it should start on that date but who takes statements by the denotative meanings anyway these days.

3G internet connectivity is made available through AT&T and activation of the service gets you an unlimited data plan for $30 a month.

We could just hope that they’ve resolved connectivity issues with these versions.
